Kite Beach Dubai

Introduction

Kite Beach in Dubai is one of the city’s top spots for outdoor fun and beachside relaxation. Nestled in the lively Jumeirah area, it’s a go-to destination for families, adventure seekers, and sunbathers alike. It is also one of Dubai’s only 24-hour beaches, allowing you to swim and relax at any time of the day.

From October to May, the area is a brilliant place to exercise, chat with friends, and just hang out. I spend a lot of time there having fun with friends and family. It is very kid-friendly and even has some excellent facilities for determined people.

Known for its pristine, soft sands and vibrant atmosphere, Kite Beach is a place where you’ll see everything from kite surfing and paddleboarding to casual beach volleyball matches. The beach is also famous for kite flying, and most days you will see people out there having fun with their creations.

Kite Beach Dubai

Visitors love its scenic views of the Burj Al Arab, the iconic sail-shaped hotel that makes for picture-perfect moments, especially at sunset. If the light is just right, then the sunsets can be spectacular. On a clear day, you can easily see the Burj Al Arab.

Kite Beach is also celebrated for its relaxed, family-friendly vibe. It has a host of amenities, including play areas, food trucks, and even a running track for fitness enthusiasts.

Foodies can find a variety of local and international bites at the food kiosks and pop-ups lining the beach. Whether you’re looking to relax with a book, try out a water sport, or simply take in the laid-back Dubai beach culture, Kite Beach offers something for everyone.

Location

Kite Beach in Dubai is located in the Umm Suqeim area of Dubai, with one end starting at the Burj Al Arab / Jumierah Beach hotel complex, and the other end at the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club.

Transportation

Kite Beach is pretty easy to reach along the Jumeirah Beach Road. There is a lot of parking for private cars, although it does get busy at the weekends. If possible, I would always recommend a taxi to get you there and take you home.

You also get there via the No 81 bus from the Mall Of The Emirates metro/bus station so you can get close to the metro and then jump on the bus. This is also possible from Dubai Mall in the other direction., but the MoE is easier. Other buses include the 8, 88 and N55 travelling down the Jumeirah Beach Road. The Umm Suqeim 1-1, and 1-2 bus stops are the ones to get off at, depending on which direction you are coming from.

You can also get there by bicycle, your own or you can rent one for the day. There are also electric bikes available to rent as well. These bikes are possible to use at the beach as well.

Things To Do

There is a lot to do at Kite Beach we are going to go into detail below. But here is a quick video just to give you a taste.

The Beach

So let’s start with the beach. It’s fantastic. Stretching for miles, with beautiful sand, warm seas and plenty of space to pitch your spot. You can bring tents, umbrellas, beds, beach towels, and everything else. You can also rent beds and umbrellas if you wish.

Kite flying at Kite Beach Dubai is a delightful experience, thanks to its wide open spaces and steady coastal breeze. The beach’s name itself hints at its perfect conditions for this fun activity.

Whether you’re an amateur or an experienced kite flyer, the strong, consistent winds make it easy to launch and control your kite over the soft sands. Families and children often gather to enjoy colourful kites soaring in the sky, adding a festive and lively atmosphere to the beach.

Visitors can bring their own kites or purchase one from nearby shops. The beach’s spaciousness ensures enough room for everyone, whether they’re flying kites or simply watching the sky fill with vibrant patterns. It’s a relaxing, family-friendly activity that adds a nostalgic charm to your day by the sea.

There are lifeguards on duty as well so you can feel safe and enjoy yourself. Police also patrol the beach on a regular basis.

Dubai is safer than most cities in the world, but common sense applies, so look after your belongings, but you are much less likely to have any problems.

Water Sports

There are Jetski rentals in the area, and water skiing, and flyboards are also available at locations along the coast. These can be booked from Umm Suqeim Fishing Harbour which is nearby. True to its name, Kite Beach is a hotspot for kite surfing, paddleboarding, and kayaking. Its steady winds and calm waters make it ideal for water sports enthusiasts, from beginners to pros. Equipment rentals and lessons are readily available along the shore.

Walking – Running – Cycling

There are dedicated cycling and walking tracks. It’s best to stay on the right one as people go past quickly on their cycles. It’s a fantastic ride or walk at all times of the day, but my particular favourite is towards sunset as the light is amazing and the views are spectacular.

Small retail kiosks and pop-up markets provide unique shopping experiences, offering everything from beachwear to handmade crafts.

Night Time

One of the unique aspects of Dubai’s Kite Beach is that it is open 24 hours a day. You can turn up any time and safely swim and chill out on the beach thanks to floodlighting and 24-hour-a-day lifeguards.

So you can feel safe, and enjoy yourself at any time. Bonus points the Kite Beach, is that it is an excellent place to celebrate New Year’s. You get a view of the fireworks from all across the city, there is plenty of parking in the back streets and also plenty of space to enjoy the evening.
