This blog is all about travel to Dubai. I have lived here for 18 years and know it pretty well. So here I will share my knowledge and experience to help you decide if you want to come and visit or perhaps even stay.
I believe Dubai is like a mini United Nations, with people from all over the world staying here. When I arrived, I thought I would stay for 2 or 3 years, but now it’s 18 years! The people I have met and become friends with have been amazing, from Colombia, India, Australia, Iran, Pakistan, British, Canadian, and many more.
I persuaded my girlfriend to follow me to Dubai, and we got married here, so the city has many special reasons for us to stay.
Old Photos Of Dubai
When I got here in 2004, they were just starting construction of the foundations of what became the Burj Khalifa and the downtown area. Below is a photograph of the construction taken around 2006/2007, when we took a plane ride across the city.
Horse racing is a big part of the culture in Dubai, and in the early years, we had the Nad Al Sheba racecourse, which we visited almost every weekend during the season. This racecourse has now been replaced with the Meyadan Racecourse, but here is a picture from the main stand of the old course.
