Arabian Travel Market fills World Trade Centre halls. GISEC sits at Dubai Exhibition Centre inside Expo City. If someone told you to “just go to the Trade Centre,” they pointed you at the wrong venue. This is the Expo City Dubai metro guide for getting the Red Line right.
I have lived here for more than 18 years. GISEC GLOBAL 2026 runs 16–18 September, 10:00–17:00, at Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), Expo City Dubai — confirmed on gisec.ae and the visitor page. It is a cybersecurity trade event, not a public attraction. Leisure companions need a different day plan while the badge-holder is inside.

DWTC is not Expo City
The venue move is official: GISEC has moved to Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai. Do not confuse it with Dubai World Trade Centre on Sheikh Zayed Road. For the wider district beyond one trade week, Expo City Dubai is the longer local guide. For GISEC week you only need DEC, the metro walk, and a clear boarding tip.
Expo City Dubai metro: board Expo 2020, not Life Pharmacy
The station you want is Expo 2020 (R76) on the Red Line. From there it is a short walk to Dubai Exhibition Centre. From Jebel Ali (R38), Expo is about seven stops further along the Expo branch.
The critical boarding tip is the one people miss. From Centrepoint, the Red Line has two direct routes: one toward Expo 2020, and one toward Life Pharmacy (formerly UAE Exchange). Check the platform displays before you step on. If you board the correct Expo train, you do not need to change at Jebel Ali. RTA’s direct-trains promotion and Gulf News on the Expo City Red Line route both stress that split. Recheck RTA’s direct trains page on the morning you travel — platform naming can change faster than a blog post.

Airports, hotels, and parking caveats
Most visitors still land at Dubai International (DXB) — roughly 35–45 minutes by road to Expo City depending on traffic, about 40 km. Al Maktoum (DWC) is nearer to Expo City but has limited commercial flights, so do not plan a DWC arrival unless the ticket already says so.
Hotels within walking distance of DEC, as named on general DEC visitor FAQs used across Expo events, include Expo Village Serviced Apartments, Rove at Expo City, and Cheval Maison Expo City. Those names are useful starting points, not a promise that every room is free during GISEC. Dubai South and Marina are the usual spillover bases; Marina still works if the companion wants waterfront evenings — see hotels in Dubai Marina.
Parking: the GISEC visitor page lists P1–P5 as paid (AED 10 for the first hour, AED 5 each extra hour). Some generic DEC FAQs still say parking is free. Treat GISEC as event-specific and recheck on the day. The same visitor page mentions a Careem promo (15% off, two rides a day, up to AED 15) — confirm the live offer in the app before you rely on it.
Heat, companions, and what not to book
The midday outdoor-work ban under direct sun, 12:30–15:00, runs through 15 September 2026. That is a MoHRE labour rule, not a tourist curfew. Heat does not end on 16 September. Dubai is still around 40°C and above in the early afternoon. Companions should keep indoor days and evening outdoor time, not a noon desert fantasy.
