Dubai Ride 2026 is on Sunday 1 November. Get the routes, RTA car parks, bib collection, timings, bike rules and tips for cycling Sheikh Zayed Road.

Before sunrise on Sunday, the busiest road in Dubai will fall almost silent. There will be no horns and no lorries, just the hum of tyres and the click of gears as tens of thousands of cyclists roll beneath the towers of Sheikh Zayed Road. Dubai Ride 2026 takes place on Sunday 1 November, and it is one of the few mornings each year when anyone with a bike and a helmet can ride the city’s main artery for free.

On 29 October, Gulf News published two practical updates. The first covered registration and bib collection, and the second listed the car parks the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has set aside for riders. This guide brings those details together. It also adds the advice that matters most on the day, from what time to leave home to which route suits children.

Dubai Ride 2026 at a Glance

  • Date: Sunday 1 November 2026, on the opening weekend of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
  • Arrival window: 4am to 6am.
  • Routes open: 6.15am, and every rider must start by 7.30am.
  • Roads reopen: around 8.15am, according to the RTA.
  • Cost: free, but online registration and a bib are compulsory.
  • Pace: it is not a race, there is no timing, and a 25km/h speed limit applies.

The event is part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which runs from 31 October to 29 November. The 30-day campaign asks residents and visitors to complete 30 minutes of activity every day. Our Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 guide covers the wider programme, including the free fitness villages and Dubai Run.

What Gulf News, Khaleej Times and Arabian Business Reported

According to Gulf News, the RTA has asked riders to park at one of three locations and head straight to the event. The paper also noted that last year’s edition drew a record 40,327 cyclists, and organisers expect even more this time.

A second Gulf News explainer set out the rules on bibs, bikes and timings. Meanwhile, Khaleej Times reported on 28 October that the Zabeel Park fitness village will serve as the bib collection point for both Dubai Ride and Dubai Run.

Arabian Business has not covered the ride itself. However, on 29 October it reported that the final bridge of the World Trade Centre Roundabout project opens on Friday 30 October. That matters for anyone driving to the Trade Centre car park, as explained below.

Dubai Ride 2026 Routes: Which One Should You Choose?

There are two routes, and you choose one when you register. Choose carefully, because registrations cannot be edited. If you change your mind, you must cancel and register again.

12km Sheikh Zayed Road Route

This is the headline ride. It runs from Dubai World Trade Centre towards Safa Park and back, including a climb over the Dubai Canal bridge. Organisers recommend it for experienced cyclists. There are five start gates: Museum of the Future, Al Satwa, Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay and Lower Financial Street. You must finish at the gate linked to your start.

4km Downtown Family Route

This flat loop follows Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, past Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and Burj Khalifa. It has a single start point and is designed for children, families and riders of all abilities. If you are visiting with young children, this is the sensible choice. The views of Burj Khalifa at first light are a fine reward in themselves.

How to Register for Dubai Ride 2026 and Collect Your Bib

Registration takes a few minutes on the official Dubai Ride page. Gulf News summarised the process as follows.

  1. Log in or create a Dubai Fitness Challenge account with your email, Google or Facebook.
  2. Choose your route and start gate, and select a free T-shirt if you want one.
  3. Save the registration QR code you receive, because you need it to collect your bib.
  4. Collect your bib from the Dubai Municipality 30×30 Fitness Village at Zabeel Park by Saturday 31 October.

Each adult must register individually, since group bookings are not allowed. Riding with friends? Book the same start gate and agree a meeting point. Parents can register up to three children, and anyone under 18 must ride with an adult.

Friends or family can collect your bib for you, as long as they show your QR code. There is no official closing date for registration. Even so, bib collection ends on 31 October, and without a bib you cannot ride. A lost bib cannot be replaced, so keep it somewhere safe.

Where to Park on Sunday Morning

The RTA has named three designated car parks, all close to the start points along Sheikh Zayed Road and in Downtown Dubai.

  • Dubai World Trade Centre Parking
  • Dubai Mall Parking
  • Dubai Mall Zabeel Parking

Parking near the start gates is limited, so arrive early. For riders using adapted bikes, the official accessibility sheet suggests Swissôtel RTA paid parking for Gate E and Dubai Mall Cinema Parking for Gate F.

Drivers heading for the Trade Centre car park should also benefit from the new bridge. According to Khaleej Times and Arabian Business, the 1km link from Al Majlis Street to 2nd December Street opens on 30 October. It is expected to cut that journey from six minutes to one.

Getting There Without a Car

Bikes are not allowed on the Dubai Metro, so you cannot bring yours by train. Public transport will run as normal. Last year, the RTA extended Metro hours on the day, from 3am until midnight. No extension had been announced for this year when Gulf News reported on 29 October.

If you live nearby, cycling to the start is the simplest option. Fit a headlight, because you will be riding in the dark. For quieter rides at other times, our guide to cycling in Dubai lists the city’s best tracks.

Road Closures and Salik on Event Day

Roads in and around both routes will close on Sunday morning. Last year, Sheikh Zayed Road was closed between Trade Centre Roundabout and Al Hadiqa Bridge from 3am to 10am. Lower Financial Centre Street and part of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard were also shut.

Salik tolls may change too. For last year’s event, Salik charged its peak rate of Dh6 between 6am and 10am. It had not announced this year’s rates on 29 October, so check the Salik app before you drive. If you are not riding, avoid the area until late morning. Our guide to a previous cycling-day closure shows how these mornings usually unfold.

What to Bring and What Is Allowed

Road bikes, hybrids, mountain bikes and children’s bikes are all welcome, provided they are in good working order. Tandems are allowed, and children can ride in bike seats or trailers. Pedal-assisted e-bikes are permitted. Electric scooters, electric motorbikes and other motorised vehicles are not.

  • A working bike with a headlight for the ride in.
  • A helmet for every rider, including children in seats or trailers.
  • Your bib, attached and visible.
  • Comfortable sportswear and closed sports shoes.
  • A filled water bottle, which you can top up at Mai Dubai hydration stations.
  • A light layer, because it can feel cool before sunrise.

Leave large bags at home, as there are no changing rooms or bag drops. Pets are not allowed. Also, no rental bikes will be provided at the event. Last year, Careem Bike offered free rentals through a promo code. No such offer had been announced at the time of writing, so check the Careem app and the RTA’s social channels.

Safety and Support Along the Route

Mechanics will be stationed along the route for minor repairs. Marshals wear green and blue jerseys, and medical teams cover the full course. In an emergency, speak to the nearest marshal or call 901. Toilets are available at the start and finish gates, but it is wise to use the facilities before leaving home.

People of determination are welcome. There are dedicated entry points for adapted bikes and handcycles, and companions can ride too if they register. Our guide to accessible Dubai has more on getting around the city.

Tips for a Smooth Morning

  • Set out early, because parking near the gates is limited and every rider must start by 7.30am.
  • Charge your phone and screenshot your QR code before you leave.
  • Ride at a relaxed pace, and pull well to the side if you want to stop for photos.
  • Plan a celebratory breakfast in Downtown afterwards, once the roads reopen.
  • If you enjoy the day, the Dubai T100 triathlon follows at Al Mamzar from 13 to 15 November.

For the triathlon, see our Dubai T100 2026 spectator guide.

Conclusion

Dubai Ride 2026 is a rare chance to see the city from the middle of its most famous road, at a gentle pace and at no cost. The essentials are simple. Register online, collect your bib from Zabeel Park by 31 October and park at one of the RTA’s three car parks. Then arrive between 4am and 6am with a helmet and a headlight. Do that, and you will be rolling past Burj Khalifa as the sun comes up.
